Programs That Empower
Why Our Mentorship Program
The transition from high school to college can be an exciting, yet challenging time, especially for students who identify as lower-income or first-generation. The MHDFF Mentorship Program provides an extra layer of guidance, encouragement, and support during students’ first year of college. Through this 12-month program, students gain the confidence and skills to navigate academic expectations, work through personal challenges, and adapt to new environments—helping them thrive both in college and beyond.
Program
Structure & Eligibility
Over the course of 12 months, scholars will have:
-
Regular Check-Ins: Whether it’s a full-cohort gathering or a one-on-one conversation with our leadership team, each meeting gives scholars a dedicated space to talk through challenges, ask questions, and receive the support they need as they adjust to their first year after high school.
-
Academic & Personal Support: Mentors help with everything from study strategies to time management to and navigating the ups and downs of college life.
-
Community Connections: Students are connected to resources, events, and peer networks to help them thrive in their desired area of study.
Recipients of the Michael Davis Memorial Scholarship are automatically enrolled in the mentorship program. However, the program is available to all Kansas high school seniors who believe they would greatly benefit from additional support.
If you are interested in joining, or learning more, we would love to connect! Please send an email to info@davisfamilyfdn.org to express your interest and someone from our team will be in touch.
